The App Store release is in preparation. For a question about Pocket Finance, email a@groei.dev. Include your app version/build, iPhone model, iOS version, and the steps that led to the problem. Please redact financial information from screenshots.

Start with the demo

Choose Explore demo on an empty ledger to see six months of fictional records. It does not replace an existing ledger. You can delete the demo in Settings → Privacy & your data before importing real statements.

Import a statement

Export a supported file from your bank. In Transactions, tap Import and choose the file, or use Files → Share → Pocket Finance AI. Review date format, decimal separator, signed amounts, account and currency, excluded rows, and possible duplicates before confirming. CSV, TXT/TSV, XLSX, and CAMT.053 are supported; text PDFs need guided table selection. Scanned PDFs and binary XLS are not supported.

If a file fails, contact us with the file type and error message. Never email bank passwords or an unredacted statement. You can use this synthetic sample CSV to try the import flow. Keep both identical grocery purchases and exclude the pending row: expected income is €3,000.00 and expenses €24.80.

Manage a subscription or free trial

Open Settings → Subscription in the app to view plans, restore purchases, or manage an existing subscription. Trials are available only when Apple confirms eligibility. The planned EUR prices are €2.99 weekly or €24.99 yearly after a 7-day trial; the purchase screen shows your localized price.

To cancel, use iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Cancel at least 24 hours before the trial or renewal ends. Uninstalling does not cancel. Apple cancellation help · Request a refund from Apple.

Restore access

Use Restore purchases with the same Apple Account. If a purchase is pending, wait for Apple’s approval. Check your connection when loading prices or restoring. A restored purchase does not restore a deleted ledger; keep original statements so you can re-import.

Share with a nearby family iPhone

On both iPhones, open Settings → Family budget sync. Create a space on the first phone, then scan or paste its invitation on the second. Explicitly select accounts to share, allow Local Network access, and keep both apps open nearby. Invite only people you trust. There is no server-based sync or remote deletion of someone else’s copy.

Can I connect a bank?

Direct bank connections are not enabled in the current MVP. Export a supported statement from your bank and import it on your iPhone. You do not need an Enable Banking developer account or an API key.

Delete data or recover a ledger

Settings → Privacy & your data → Delete all data on this iPhone clears the app-managed local records, staged statements, family key, and model files. Original files and other phones’ copies are unaffected. There is no cloud recovery service and the ledger is excluded from device backups. Use deletion before uninstalling to clear the current family Keychain entry. Cancel a subscription separately.

Why are totals different from my bank?

The app reports imported cashflow, not your current bank balance. Recognized internal transfers are excluded, positive refunds count as inflows, and missing records affect totals. Check the selected month, account, currency, and the source transactions before relying on a comparison.

How do savings goals work?

Set up to five goals from Overview → Savings goals or Settings → Savings goals. Give each a target, a monthly percentage, and an optional amount already saved before the starting month. These are virtual pots across all your accounts in the plan’s currency; no money is moved and no particular savings account is required.

Choose whether deficit months reduce the pots or only positive savings contribute. You can change this under Savings settings; changing that choice recalculates the displayed history. A shortfall carries forward when deficits are included. Percentages can total less than 100%; the remainder is unallocated. Changing a percentage from a selected month leaves earlier percentages intact. Goals continue receiving their share after reaching the target until you change it.

Open a goal for monthly contributions and progress. Missing records affect progress, and months without transactions are marked. Goals are stored only on your iPhone, are not part of nearby family sync, and are removed by Delete all data. Delete a goal to remove its virtual allocation; bank records remain unchanged.

How do I change currency?

Open Settings → Currency and choose or search for a currency. This preference is saved between launches and is also used in Ask. Totals include only records in the chosen currency; there is no exchange-rate conversion. Goals keep the currency they were created in.

Local models: help & FAQ

How do I download a model?

Open Settings → Local AI model, choose Light, Balanced, or Standard, then tap Download & install. No Hugging Face account or API key is required for the listed models. Keep Pocket Finance open until checking and installation finish. Use Wi-Fi, or enable Allow mobile data before starting. You can cancel at any point and try again later; interrupted downloads restart from the beginning.

How do I generate an answer?

After installation, open Ask, choose a completed month, accounts and currency, type your question and tap Generate answer. The answer appears as it is written; Stop ends generation. You can ask in English or Russian. Answers use calculated income, expenses, savings and category changes for the selected month and the month before it. Individual payments, other periods and savings-goal details are not included in the model context. Check AI text against the calculated results below it. Questions and answers are not saved. Once the model is installed, answers work offline.

Which model should I choose?

Light (0.8B) is about 533 MB, Balanced (2B) is about 1.28 GB, and Standard (4B) is about 2.74 GB. The suggestions below are conservative starting points based on memory, not measured Pocket Finance inference results. Physical-iPhone speed, temperature and memory behavior still need device testing; these are not performance guarantees.

iPhone 15 Pro / Pro Max; all iPhone 16 models including 16e; iPhone 17 / 17eBalanced · 2BLight for a smaller download. Treat 4B as experimental on these 8 GB phones.
iPhone Air; iPhone 17 Pro / Pro Max; iPhone 18 Pro / Pro MaxStandard · 4BBalanced or Light if you prefer lower memory use. These are 12 GB devices.
iPhone XR; SE (2nd generation)No model suggestedThese 3 GB phones have too little memory headroom for a reliable recommendation.

A larger storage capacity (128, 256, or 512 GB) does not mean more working memory. In the app, suggestions use measured device memory rather than a model-name guess. New or unlisted devices follow the same memory tiers.

Unsloth’s generic inference guide lists about 3.5 GB total memory for its 4-bit 0.8B/2B group and 5.5 GB for 4B; this is not an iOS certification. iOS also uses memory and can terminate apps under pressure. Short context and an up-to-date compatible runtime matter. No token-per-second or thermal guarantees are made.

Recommendation sources

Memory tiers were cross-checked with original Xcode investigations for iPhone 14/15, iPhone 16, iPhone 17 and Air, iPhone 17e/16e, and iPhone 18 Pro. Public measurements also report approximately 11.45 GB on iPhone 17 Pro and 11.46 GB on iPhone Air. The PocketPal device leaderboard provides independent mobile benchmark results, but does not certify our exact build or settings.

Technical details, sources, and licenses

Light uses Qwen3.5 0.8B Q4_K_M (532,517,120 bytes). Balanced uses Qwen3.5 2B Q4_K_M (1,280,835,840 bytes). Standard uses Qwen3.5 4B Q4_K_M (2,740,937,888 bytes). These GGUF conversions are published by Unsloth from Qwen weights under Apache 2.0. Downloads are pinned to a specific repository revision and checked against the published SHA-256 checksum before installation.

This build uses the official llama.cpp b10000 runtime under the MIT license, with Metal on iPhone. It supports Qwen3.5 text GGUF models with the official non-thinking chat template, a 4,096-token context and up to 512 output tokens per answer. Models are released from memory after each request. Insufficient memory, incompatible files, a 180-second time limit or interruption produce a visible error or stopped state. Large models may still exceed iOS memory limits; choose Light first if unsure.

Model explanations receive only scoped, calculated aggregates. Merchant descriptions, account identifiers and notes are excluded. Amounts and percentages in the comparison cards come from Swift calculations; generated prose is not semantically verified and can make mistakes. No remote AI fallback is used.

Where are files stored, and how do I remove them?

Models are saved inside Pocket Finance, protected by iOS and excluded from backups. Delete a model from the Local AI model screen. Delete all data also cancels active installation and generation, clears the answer, and removes installed models. A failed replacement keeps the previous file. Installing a downloaded file does not give another app access to your Pocket Finance ledger.

Can I use my own model?

Choose Import from Files and select a GGUF file. The app checks its file header before storing it; imported files have no publisher checksum verification. Generation currently supports Qwen3.5 text models only; other architectures show an unsupported-model message. Only import files from a source you trust.

What if installation fails?

Check your connection, unlock the iPhone, and free enough storage for the model plus some working space. Cancel and retry if needed. The app does not mark an incomplete or unverified catalog download as installed. Leaving or closing the app may interrupt installation.

Are there other mobile apps for local AI?

PocketPal AI for iPhone is an independent mobile app. You can also browse GGUF models on Hugging Face. These links do not share your Pocket Finance records or connect the apps. Model support and device requirements depend on the app you choose.
