Get your personal API token from Todoist: Settings → Integrations → Developer. Paste it into the extension’s options page, or in the iOS app under Settings → Todoist. The token is stored on your device (Keychain on iOS) and only ever sent to Todoist.
Two levels. The everyday level uses a Shortcuts automation (“When Instagram opens → open Do Instead”) — the app walks you through creating it in Setup. Strict mode (Pro) uses Apple’s Screen Time to shield chosen apps and websites system-wide, covering every browser on the device.
Extension → iPhone: open the extension’s options, choose “Show transfer code”, and scan the QR with your iPhone camera — the app opens and imports. iPhone → extension: in the app, Settings → Show transfer code → Copy code, then paste it into the options page. Between two Chromes (or two Firefoxes), settings ride your browser account automatically.
Only during the allowed windows you set on the Block tab — for example weekdays 12:30–13:00 or every evening 20:00–21:30. Outside them the shield is up. No windows means blocked around the clock. Widening a window or switching the shield off takes 10 minutes to apply while the shield is on; tightening is instant, and you can cancel a pending change from the Block tab.
No, on purpose. The wall shows your three most urgent tasks and a button that sends the list to your Lock Screen; it never opens the app. If you hit the wall three times in an hour, Do Instead asks you to write down what you were looking for before it shows your list. Those notes stay on your phone (Settings → What you were looking for).
“Let me in for N minutes” opens the site you were heading to and re-blocks it automatically when the time is up. The length is configurable; the default is 5 minutes. This exists only in the extension.
The block screen shows reminders that are undated, overdue, or due within the next two days. Check that Do Instead has Reminders access in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Reminders.
Subscriptions are handled by Apple: Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your device. Use “Restore Purchases” in the app after reinstalling. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
