Effective date: 28 August 2026
These terms govern your use of the Do Instead browser extension and iOS app published by Groei B.V. By installing or using the product you agree to them.
Do Instead is a self-imposed distraction blocker: you choose sites and apps to block, and at the moment of interception the product shows your own tasks and alternative activities. It connects, at your option, to task services you already use. Do Instead is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Doist (Todoist), Apple, Google, or Mozilla.
Do Instead is a tool for your own intentions. It is not tamper-proof and does not claim to be. Blocking can be bypassed by disabling the extension, uninstalling the app, using another browser or device, or (by design) the snooze button. Interception on iOS outside strict mode relies on Shortcuts automations you set up yourself, and strict mode depends on Apple’s Screen Time framework. We do not guarantee that any particular site or app will always be blocked, and the product is not a parental-control or workplace-compliance tool.
Connecting Todoist requires your own Todoist account and personal API token; your use of Todoist remains subject to Doist’s terms. Apple Reminders access is granted and revocable through iOS permissions. You are responsible for the safekeeping of tokens and transfer codes you export.
You agree not to: use the product to interfere with devices or accounts you do not manage; reverse engineer the product except where the law permits; or use it where prohibited by law.
Transfer codes move your own configuration between your own devices, locally: the code exists only on your screen or clipboard and is applied where you enter it. Keep exported codes safe — they can contain your Todoist token, as described in the Privacy Policy.
The product is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Groei B.V. is not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from use of the product — including missed content, missed notifications, or anything you did or didn’t do while a site was blocked — and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the product in the twelve months before the claim arose. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including under EU consumer-protection rules.
We may update the product and these terms. Material changes will be announced in the store release notes; continued use after a change means acceptance.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands, without affecting mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence.
